In a strange turn of events, Microsoft may have out-innovated Nintendo and others. I predict this is the future of video games, and much more exciting than the Wii to me.
They are claiming at launch they will have resolution down to the centimeter, which will enable detection of finger movements and so the games themselves could be more complicated like xbox360 games. Apparently the way it is done without a camera on the opposite side to triangulate actually involves an infrared sensor as well as normal camera. As a side benefit, this means it should work nearly as well in the dark!
